Covid-19 Procedures and Precautions
SUMMER 2020 COVID-19 POLICIES & PROCEDURES
1) All elective surgery and routine wellness visits will now be phased back in; please be patient as we begin to honor pre-existing appointments, and get caught up on the 9-week backlog of postponed appointments and surgeries.
2) PLEASE get started on your pet’s parasite program as soon as possible if you have not already—ticks are busy, mosquitoes and black flies are at hand, and fleas are warming up! We can get you set up by email or phone, even if a Lyme/Heartworm test is due this year!
3) Our door will remain locked as we continue to restrict access to the inside of the clinic. Please call ahead so that we can get your food or medication ready. Please prepay over the phone or by e-transfer if possible; we now have a portable POS machine that can be taken to the parking lot.
4) Please take a look at our online webstore to order food and medications; home delivery is possible and encouraged; we can help get you set up! Orders may be picked up at the clinic--we will deliver it to your vehicle. Some of the food companies have great discounts on during the pandemic, and we will pay for the shipping if you subscribe to a regular order.
5) If you are unable to get out and cannot arrange someone to pickup what you need, we will arrange delivery to your home if at all possible;
6) We will continue to conduct telemedicine consultations over the phone where possible to continue to reduce interactions until a vaccine or treatment allows complete relaxation of physical distancing.
7) For urgent AND most routine appointments, a veterinary technician will meet you in the parking lot, update any information that was not obtained over the phone, then bring your pet into the clinic for diagnosis and treatment, in order to minimize risk to you, your pet, and our staff. The only exception right now is for euthanasia, where you and the staff will wear masks and other PPE.
8) Please let us know when we ask if you are having any pertinent symptoms, are recovering, or are in contact with confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19.
9) When you arrive for an appointment or to pick up food or medications, please call us (519) 422-3164. If you are unable to call us, kindly knock on the door once. Please continue to practice social distancing during any interaction.
10) After-hours emergencies continue as usual; please call the number given on the message; telemedicine advice may prevent a visit in certain emergencies.
VULGAR OR DISRESPECTFUL LANGUAGE TOWARDS THE STAFF WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
WE WILL CONTINUE TO WORK TOGETHER THROUGH THIS CRISIS TO MINIMIZE RISK TO YOU, YOUR PET, AND OUR STAFF. PLEASE CONTINUE TO BE PATIENT AND KIND.
